A TRIBUTE TO ROSS SNEDDON (22/10/1998 – 15/2/2004)
This is my personal tribute to Ross Sneddon, son of Andrew and Michelle
Sneddon, close friends of mine. Ross (aged 5), his friend Ashley Martin (aged
8), and Ashley’s mother, Anne Martin (aged 39) were killed instantly when a
speeding car, driven by a drunk driver mounted the pavement and struck them at
around 11am GMT on Sunday 15th February 2004.
The accident happened as the three were returning from a disco party, and just
seconds before they would have entered an alley which would have led them
safely home.
Ross was the eldest of Andrew and Michelle’s three children. Michelle and their youngest
daughter, Lyta, who had her second birthday the day after the accident, were also
involved in the accident but escaped with minor injuries. Their other daughter, Charlotte (aged 3) did not attend the event and
fortunately, was therefore not involved in the accident.
ADDENDUM.
In summer 2004, Dean Martin pled guilty to causing death by drunk driving, and was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
He was told that, had the case gone to trial, he would have been sentenced to 14 years.
